SMC - Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy

The Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy (SMC) is committed to pluralism of media and information sources, to high-performance technological connectivity and to resolutely forward-looking policies while placing the human being in the foreground. It thus accompanies the development of new communications and media technologies. SMC's remit today lies in the areas of media, electronic communications, quantum communications, artificial intelligence, radio frequencies, data policy, data protection and postal services. Thus, the SMC implements the national strategies for 5G, ultra-high-speed communication, as well as the strategic vision for artificial intelligence.

Innovative Initiatives is an initiative coordinated by the SMC. As a horizontal government initiative, Innovative Initiatives, together with public, private and academic actors, supports innovative initiatives related to connectivity, data or also to the ecosystem of innovative technologies such as 5G and artificial intelligence. Innovative Initiatives supports projects for the development of basic and advanced digital skills such as the Digital Skills and Job Coalition, the Lux Tech School, Digital Skills Matchmaking or Elements of AI in order to enable the population to better exploit the potential of digital technology.
